Stock Selling Strategies

Selling stock certificates can be a difficult decision for any stock owner. After all, when is the correct time to do it? Maybe the company is on the veil of launching a new
revolutionizing product into the market, or maybe the price of commodities is on the brink of soaring to unimaginable levels. The advantages of selling stock (different from the advantages of a company selling stock) is that you can use it for more interesting options, or for buying a new house. But there are also some disadvantages. After all, the stock market is a very delicate game.

The Stock Market

One of the most basic advices that people give when speaking about the stock market is to buy low, sell high. But this is a short term view of the mechanics of how the stock market works (another example of this short term view is short selling stocks). In reality, shares are more complex than that.

There other things to look for like who is the CEO of the company, how much has it grown in the last 5 to 10 years, what kind of products is launching to the market, how high is their profit, what kind of plans do they have for the future, among many other things.

For example, let's look at HP. Hewlett-Packard is a transnational corporation that sells IT solutions through out the world. Under the leadership of it's former CEO, Carly Fiorina, the stock of the company had a poor performance. But, thanks to the work done by it's new CEO, Mark Hurd, the stock has increased almost $10 per share. Unfortunately, all this work has been shadowed by a recent board scandal.

So, considering all of this, would you sell your HP stock? It's products are great, they have a very interesting plan for the future, they are always looking for new markets (they just bought Voodoo PC, a manufacturer of high performance computers) and their employees love their company. Should you sell because of the recent problems in the board?
