A stock investor is sometimes called as a stock trader. The term refers to individual or firm who is involved in buying and selling of financial instruments such as stocks, bonds in the financial market etc But there is a subtle difference in the terms, stock trader and stock investor.
Stock investor is a business or entity that purchases stocks of big companies. They are long-term investors. On the other hand stock traders try to reap profit from short time price volatility. They also sometimes rely on the psychology of other investors.
Stock traders are usually professionals. They may have another profession and practice stock trading as part time. Such people call themselves as stock traders, investors or part time stock traders or investors. Some times stock trader or investor may have clients and act as money manager or adviser. In such case, they are called as financial adviser or manager.
