The Stock Market in 2007
A recent survey by Russell showed that one third or managers expect to see the overall stock market rise by about ten percent or more in the coming 2007 year. Eighty percent of the managers surveyed said they expected to see a positive return for the overall stock market. For investors the 2006 year has been an anxious one, but as the year comes to a close the overall results of the stock market aren't that bad. The most impressive results have come from the blue chips. The Dow Jones gained over fifteen percent which is higher than the historical average yearly return. However, anxiety still exists over what the 2007 year will bring. The prospects of the 2007 stock market are determined by the economy and looking at the current value of stocks. Currently the economy is doing good since interest rates are likely to drop rather than climb and unemployment remains at low levels. In 2007 there is a mild slowdown predicted for the economy. When it comes to selecting good stock market options for 2007, the best are those with overseas prospects or those that are benefiting from the corporate boom since these are the stocks that won't be effected by slow U.S. growth. Global growth will make oil company, mining, metal and multinational corporation stocks a good prospects. Analysts also added technology shares to a list of good stock options for 2007. |
